Christmas Eve

Let me tell you all I am absolutely delighted and honoured to be
a guest designer today at A Vintage Journey- such a talented design
team!

For the current theme I have prepared a canvas
named ,,Christmas Eve''. I was inspired by my memories of this very special night when the whole family went to church about midnight to attend the unique Mass. It is one of the most beautiful Polish custom.

I have used a 29,5 cm x 9,5 cm white canvas where I glued the images of Lavinia
stamps cut out from a magazine.
I loved these houses but unfortunately didn't have any of the stamps.
Next step was covering all with clear gesso.

Next lots of colours were added to the canvas: Gelatos, acrylic paints, some inks
and mists.

I have also heat embossed star stamps and did some stamping with white
gesso. The snow was made with very heavy coarse structure paste.

The star is made of a birch-tree and I emphasized its texture by using heat embossing and some glitter.

Gift Bag

My family and friends got used to handmade gift bags, so it is almost impossible to give them Christmas gifts in any other packages.
That means a lot of work to me, but Thank God it makes me feel very, very happy too.
I have used a lot of mixed media stuff here.
The background was primed and coloured with Gelatos first.
Next it was stamped with some twigs stamp to create a ,,frame''.
I added the punched dots and outlined them with white Sacura pen.
I used the tree stencil to put some embossing paste , it was later heat embossed with Stampendous shabby green embossing enamel.
Hope you like it!

The Elf

I love the latest challenge theme over at Frilly and Funkie so much that I have decided not only to be inspired by  the most memorable gifts I have received over the years, but also use a part of it in my work.
As you can see it was a tablecloth I got from my beloved Granny - very unusual for design and colours. It is torn and used now but as a dear keepsake still makes me happy!

I fussy cut a cotton hat and glue it to the canvas (29,5 cm x 9,5 cm).
Next step was stenciling some snowflakes with some texture paste.
I coloured the background with gelatos and added some lettering stamps too.
I made the nose of an oval button and the beard of curly moss which I gave a coat of glitter.

I have a wintery project to share with you today....
Not typical Christmas colours but I believe connected with frost and snow.
Had a great time playing with napkin technique for my background.
I didn't want it to be smooth and tried to make lots of texture.
It was later coloured with acrylic paints and stressed with silver wax.
I finished my project off by adding a wreath made with die cuts, fake berries and silver embossed stars.

The theme this time is COLOURFUL.
We would like you to use COLOUR on your entries for this challenge.
with hardly any or NO white areas.

My take on the theme is a wedding card with heart chipboard gate.
As usual I provide you with some steps of the process:

1. Stencilling some texture paste.
2. Coating all with white gesso.
3. Colouring with Gelatos.
4. Lightening the background with white paint.
5. Heat embossing the chipboard gate.
6. Finishing off by adding some colourful embellishments.

Home Sweet Home

We start a new challenge today over at Try it on Tuesday and our theme is
HOME, SWEET HOME.

Pop this on your blog to find us fast!

Great ideas from the team as always so do join us if you can.
As always what you make, the style, the mediums. format etc. is entirely up to yourselves as long as you have in some way used our theme.

My take on the theme is a fridge magnet I made of various sized match boxes.

I started with gluing some scrap  papers to the boxes inside and out.
Then I added some white gesso, Dried Marigold Distress Ink and Crackle Paint on the edges.

The best part was to put it all together: paper scraps, faves metal parts and  plastic junks I hoard in my drawer.

Hope you like it!

I'm also linking the magnet to:
moo-mania: make it feminine - I hope you will find my tiny house enough womanly;)
the three muses challenge:shadow box - although it isn't digital it fits to the challenge

Charming Season

Loving autumnal colors I've decided to make a tag with a chipboard leaf and fake berries.
For the background I used tissue paper technique. It was covered with gesso later.
After that it was splashed with various inks, then I stamped and heat embossed a leaf stamp.
The chipboard leaf was coloured with Gelatos and covered with glaze.

Live in the Moment

Hello!
It's time for a new challenge at Try it on Tuesday and this fortnight the theme is  Time/Clocks.
You can interpret this as you will -it's up to you as long as you incorporate the theme.

Pop this on your blog to find us fast!

The rest of the design team have some great inspiration for you, so please pop over to the main blog for all the details.

My take on the theme is an altered clock deriving from late 50s.
If you are watchful you can spot the lettering: Made in USSR.
I didn't want to cover it, treating the lettering as something memorial :))

I started  the process by disassembling the clock and adding some decoupage paper to the surface.

I replaced the plastic cover with some some details I made of the junk found in my treasure box and some die cuts, which I gave a lot of metal paint, waxes and rust effect medium.

I must admit I had a very good time altering the clock, putting together all the details.
