early bird

Today I would like to share with you a canvas with one of my fav saying.
I started with painting the canvas with DecoArt crackle paint.
Then I have used some paper die cuts and texture paste through the stencil for the BG.
The whole piece was coloured with Gelatos and Dylusions ink sprays.
I fussy cut the bird from a postcard, add some chipboards, burlap flowers, microbeads and a metal crown for embellishment.
There is also a feather, few enamel dots and some perlen pen dots.

address book

There is another fab challenge at Try it on Tuesday.
Our Theme this time is 'Crowning Glory'. In other words, add a Crown!
As always, its up to you what you make, as long as we can see the Crown!

My take on the theme is an address book for a hairdresser.
She is the queen of her profession for me, that's why the lady is wearing a crown.
I used A4 notebook and added another ,,cover''of heavy cardstock to it.
I have transfered a fussy cut image using gesso first.
Next I fastened lots of chipboards and metal charms ( including a comb and scissors) with gel medium.
Then I applied some heavy gesso and when it was dry started inking, painting and misting.
At the end I stamped some writing, added a few splashes of ink and glued the hot embossed letters.

today

I would like to share with you my hanging.
I have tried a new technique for the background here.
Firstly I dripped hot glue down the cardstock  to invoke the abstract pattern.
I found  the texture  quite  interesting.
When it was dry I primed it with gesso and coloured with Dylusions ink spray.
Then I added some stamping and 3 old brushes tied together and some wee flowers.
The butterfly was embossed with two Stampendous embossing enamels.
I finished the piece with splashing some white ink.

2. leave me a comment under this post
I will draw the winner on June 25th.
Please note, candy only blogs will not be included in the draw
I ship worldwide.
Good luck to you all!

Marcin's gecko

I am so happy and proud to be a Guest Designer for Frilly and Funkie  today.
This is my take on the theme: Happy! Happy! Happy!
I loved doing this wall hanging for three reasons:
1) the metal frame with a gecko was handmade by my son and given to me as a
gift
2) metal parts and mixed media are my fav things to work with
3) love nature and wild animals seem to be so happy to me

Here you can see the naked frame

I primed the thick piece of cardboard with heavy gesso.
Then applied texture paste through the stencil.
Next it was time to attach the frame with extra heavy gel medium.
Time for the best part! I hoard lots of broken jewelry and the gecko
received a large amount.

Another wash of gesso was given. I have used various paints and inks to colour the whole piece. Sprayed some mists and then rubbed on some metallic gilding wax. I decided to do some stamping and heat embossing to add some interest to the background. The lettering is an altered chipboard. Isn't it a good team (Marcin+Lula) work?

You can win the same frame in my wee Candy in the next post!

I would also like to join in the following challenges:
creativeartistemixedmedia: colour board
citycrafter-262  I have used smooching, stenciling and sponging

The theme of the  challenge at the ArtisticStamper is
Journaling your heart out
I made this page after receiving very sad news.
I glued tissue-paper for some texture, coloured it with gelatos, added some drawing, scraps and stamping, heat embossed later.
I am also playing with paperartsy where topic 9 is Words.
I like using large letters and quotes cut out from magazines.

vintage garden

Encouraged by Pamellia I have made my own vintage garden in a fish can
( doesn't stink at all- I swear).
I started with applying thick black gesso( a bit scary!) on the whole surface. Then it was time for platinum texture paste. When it was dry I started colouring with Archival inks, Dylusions ink sprays and Inka Gold paint. I stamped some white flowers on the BG too.

Next I fussy cut the flower images  from the newspapers, covered them with gesso and added some twinkling H2O's paint on top.
Glued them together along with some die cut leaves and wee flowers.
I made the fence from metal net found at my husband's ,,emporium".
Added some metal parts as well as some chipboard at the top.
The support is made of an old toothpaste cup.

I would like to play along with:

Mother's day

I became ill on arthritis when I was a small child. The one and only person who could ease my pain was my Mother. Walking down my memory lane I can still remember sitting on her laps, hugs , kisses and words of comfort she has given me. Thank you Mammy!
As a tribute to her I made this journal page using lots of mixed media products.
I have also used die cuts to add some texture and heat embossing and stamping to embellish the page.

Triptych

Hello Everyone! It's time for another challenge over at *The Mirror Cracked*!
Our theme for the month is a Triptych.
A triptych is a work of art that is divided into three sections, or three carved panels that are hinged together and can be folded shut or displayed open.

I have altered 3 coffee capsules boxes:

I cut them, glued together, added the roofs and painted them.
Next put some texture paste through the brick stencil.
Then it was time for adding some colours with inks, mists and golden gelato.
I stamped the suns on the tissue paper and glued them to the front. More stamping was done on the whole surface. I added some metal embelishments and the quotation from an old Indian song to finish my houses.

creative adventure

I wanted to share this latest piece. It is an art journal page made for Mixed Media Mojo
Art Journal Monday.
It WAS really a creative adventure!
I started with gessoing the whole page in my art journal which, to tell you the truth
is an old book.
Then I applied translucent embossing paste through the stencil.
I dabbed a variety of Distress inks over to add colour.
Next I used my fav media- Gelatos.
I did some stamping with Archival ink  and to complete the page I glued the girl fussy cut from a magazine.

Spring

Today I want to share with you a canvas (24x18 cm) with a picture of my son and granddaughter who I miss a lot.
They live far away and I can't see them as often as I want.
The canvas was made with  lots of mixed media including gesso, modeling paste, gel medium, mists, inks and gelatos.
I have tried the new technique here: mixing microbeads with gel medium to achieve more texture for the background.
Hope you like it!

Happy May

New month means new challenge over at Mixed Media Mojo
This time the theme is  Tic Tac Toe!
The twist is: use everything!

I have challenged myself to do that- let's check  if I am successful!
First ribbon and tape was glued to the old frame to made some textures on the BG.

I applied gesso on the whole piece. Next I coloured all with gelatos and  added some glitter mixed with gel medium.
Then it was time for chipboards coloured the same way
The stencil was used on the piece under the photo. My son took this photo and it is one of my fav.
I stamped the frame with some ,,crackle'' stamp using Adirondack ink and put an inscription
with the word ,,may''.
Yes, I have used all the items. Hooray!
Don't forget to pop on over to mixedmediamojo to see fab inspirational pieces of my teamies!
