We have another new challenge for you at Try it on Tuesday. The theme is 1960's/ Retro

For our challenge I decided to try my hand at pop art.
pop art:

an art movement that began in the U.S. in the 1950s and reached its peak of activity in the
1960s, chose as its subject matter the anonymous, everyday, standardized, and banal
iconography in American life.

The predominant colors used by Pop Art artists are yellow, red and blue.
The colors used were vivid.

I was trying to achieve the 60's feeling by adding Andy Warhol's Marilin image and creating colorful background. I punched some  two sized circles from a magazine, then glued them to the cardstock. Next I punched myself a mask ( the same two sized circles) and using a mask I outlined the whole cardstock.

I added Marilyn's quotation and a plastic butterfly to finish my tag.

I started my mixed media card with a plain cardstock. For the background I put a generous coat of white Deco Art crackle paint. Then it was time for modelling paste through the stencil.

Next the best part- inking and misting . I also stamped some cracking on the edges.

Final step- adding flowers, some gauze, chipboard, some pearls and a metal owl because the card is for a student.

I just love altering things. This time it was a small (8x8 cm) wooden box - camembert container. 
I added a wee canvas panel inside with a picture of my granddaughter. Isn't she lovely?
Some stenciling, inking and  misting was done before putting chipboards and other embellishments. The stands are made of bobbin case.

Trading Post

34th birthday

I made this bottom-opened box for my son's 34th birthday.
I used black gesso (which I am a bit scary of), lots of paints, mists and heat embossed chipboards.
Some metal pieces from trash are also added.

The letter

It is a MDF letter I altered  for my friend's birthday, using pieces of wallcovering samples to achieve some interesting textures.

wedding card

'NEW BEGINNINGS' is our  new challenge theme.

We are waiting for your creations could be a wedding, birth, new home, new job........................

My take on the theme is a Wedding card, tried to keep it simple but elegant.

Both my parents were printers and I still can remember playing with old fonts and the smell of printer's paint.

That's why I just have  to take part in these challenges...I just have to...
Another reason is the person I made this notebook for- a young actor, a real words buster.
He catches the letters and keeps them together with safety-pins.
Słowa means Words in polish.

Today I am sharing my birds' house made from MDF and altered with some die cuts, flowers and stamping. I have also made the badge from glass cabochon.

masterboard

Welcome to another challenge starting over at The Mirror Crack'd.

Our theme for this month is to create and use a Masterboard.

A masterboard is a large background piece designed to be cut up and used in smaller projects, such as journals, postcards, cards, ATC's etc. It can be created with any combination of collage, paint, inks, sprays, rubber stamps, stencils. 

I made the masterboard using acrylic paints along with stencils and stamps.

This is my first masterboard ever, so please be gentle!

Lots of misting, some modelling paste through the stencil, some die cuts, heat embossed umbrella and a few embellishments- that's all.

great news!

Today is a very exciting day for me -  I have been invited to join the design team over at

OK...so for my first challenge  we are recycling and using flowers!  

I decided to alter a wooden box, using my hoarded stash like metal embellishments,

a broken necklace and some paper die cuts.

I do hope you will join us in this fun challenge, I can't wait to see what you come up with!!
